In the name of Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs:

“W-what are you, and who are you doin’! Uh, uh, w-hat are you—” (Doc)

“Who are ‘ya and what are ‘ya doing here!?” (Angry)

ABOUT MY SITE

So, who am I? I’m Cristal (but have also been referred to as Cristaaaaaal, C-Dawg, Darkness, Mastermind, Burnt Biscuit, and many other names that would probably just confuse you even more).  I am a student, writer, teacher, and screenwriter who aspires to become a renowned former-student, writer, and screenwriter. I am a horrible speller, have a weird obsession with bridal and culinary reality TV, and, no matter what your ‘bros’ say, will always think pancakes are wayyy better than waffles.

This site is all about being in college, exploring new avenues, and writing down all of my discoveries along the way. This is my chance to share my work and my thoughts with the world and grow as a writer and adventurer. In short, cristalvjames.com represents my journey to becoming a published author with absolutely no boundaries.

ABOUT ME

Cristal V. James is a ball of creative energy in a business suit. She has written a young adult novel entitled “Escapades”  and was the director, producer, and editor of her first documentary production, “Confessions of an Oreo”—a comedic, short essay film which explores racial and social issues in the lives of African American female students.

Cristal graduated as a Film Studies and Business Management major from Columbia University in 2014, but is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. In Las Vegas, she was employed at Tools Theater, an inventive corporation that combines three of Cristal’s greatest joys: writing, media, and youth. Cristal also has experience in broadcast and print journalism, publishing, graphic design, and production. Since graduating, she has been serving as a Teach for America 2014 Corps Member and teaching 2nd Grade in her hometown.

In addition to professional experience, Cristal has completed hundreds of hours of community service and outreach—from being the spokesperson for the Southern Nevada Water Authority Youth Advisory Council  and bringing awareness to environmental issues, to being  President of Battle of the Books and mentoring underprivileged Harlem youth in reading and teamwork. Cristal states that working with children and young adults inspires the colorful dialog in her writing.

Professionally, Cristal aspires to become a YA author and work in the story department of a major studio with a focus on children’s entertainment. She specializes in comedy as well as young, fresh, and scandalous drama.
